Founded in 1989 and now firmly established as one of the oldest MTB dedicated clubs in the UK we are based in one of the UK's most perfect mountain biking areas in North Wales.

The club is affiliated, through the Welsh Cycling Union, with British Cycling the nations governing body for cycle sport and have organised MTB racing at local and regional level as well as hosting at a number of National events in the disciplines of Cross Country, Hillclimb, Downhill and Trials including National Points and National Championships.

We are also members of the UK branch of the International Mountain Bike Association who work to promote the improvement of countryside access for mountain bikes. The club works to encourage access to legal trails and has worked closely with National Parks, Public and Private Forestry and Councils to increase access to trails and avoid conflict between all users in the countryside and seeks to create partnerships that will increase opportunity for riders across the region.

The club continues to work with bodies such as the Trail Cyclist Association with whom we have promoted mtb orienteering events for many years, and finally we help local communities to raise funds for local projects with sponsored events involving mountain bikes. In 2005 we help put £1500 into the funds of a number of local community groups not connected with cycling

The NWMBA has always received a lot of support from local businesses, cycle shops and outdoor clothing companies for which we are grateful. In 2006 we have been pleased to announce a sponsorship deal from Tilhill UPM and One Planet Adventure, the managers and operators of Coed Llandegla Forest with its new award winning visitor centre, and mountain biking and walking trails for all ages and abilities.
